The Teacher and Administrator Grant Program is a reimbursement program designed to assist certified teachers and administrators who wish to continue their education and improve their professional skills. This program is open to anyone who holds a current teacher or administrator certification from the Arkansas Department of Education and who is currently employed as a teacher or administrator in Arkansas. Because it is a reimbursement program, those awarded are reimbursed for eligible expenses after they successfully complete the course and submit the required documentation to the Department of Higher Education.

The Teacher and Administrator Grant Program is available for use only during summer terms, and those awarded can be reimbursed for up to three hours of coursework. Due to limited funding, not all applicants can be awarded. Therefore, applications are prioritized based on needs within the state. Within each priority category, applicants are awarded first come, first served based on the date the application is received by the Department of Higher Education. The current categories are.

  1. The course is is funded with Eisenhower Grant funds, or is a mathematics or natural science course (excluding math and science education courses).
  2. The course is required for certification/endorsement in an area in which the applicant is currently teaching but is not fully certified or endorsed, and in which the applicant will be teaching next year.
  3. The applicant is working towards an advanced degree and the course will apply toward the requirements (including elective requirements) for that degree.
  4. All others.

Call (501) 371-2050 or (800) 54-STUDY for an application                    (Download an application).
